Why Ethical Puppy Placement Is More Important Now Than Ever
October 9, 2025 | Perth, WA
G’day everyone — it’s Vic here.
Over my 40-plus years in the pet industry, I’ve seen thousands of wagging tails, excited first-time owners, and unfortunately, a fair share of puppy heartbreaks. With new reforms now in place here in WA, Claremont Puppies is evolving — and I’m more committed than ever to making sure the transition works for you and for the pups.
1. Why the change was necessary
The landscape in WA is shifting. Under the new rules, pet shops can no longer simply sell puppies to the public. The old retail model has been phased out and replaced with stricter regulations designed to discourage unregulated breeding and improve animal welfare.
Claremont Puppies is now a placement service, not a storefront. We partner with ethical, welfare-compliant breeders across Australia, as we always have.
2. What you can expect from us
- A full veterinary health check
- First core vaccination
- Treatment for worms and fleas
- Microchipping
- 28 days of free insurance
- Continued support and advice (yes, I still answer the phone 9am-5pm)
3. How we find the right pup for you
I ask about your home, lifestyle, and experience with dogs so we can match you with a litter that fits your needs and we will source puppies from our regular breeders as per your requests. We run LitterClub, a free membership program that gives early access to suitable litters.
4. Why this matters — for you and for pups
Backyard breeders and hidden health issues have caused too many heartbreaks. New laws help, but it still takes people with conscience to make sure pups go to great homes. That’s what Claremont Puppies stands for.
5. Let’s talk (no obligations)
If you’re curious or just want more info, give me a call. Ask about upcoming litters or the process itself — I’ll never rush you. You deserve to feel certain before you commit.
Warmest regards,
Vic (Claremont Puppies)
